Harris Poll Online is brought to you by the people at Harris Interactive, a well established and respected research firm. That's the good news. The bad news is they have no regular referral program (see below), the surveys don't pay very well, and the prizes that you redeem your points for kinda suck. If you take 16 10-minute surveys at 50 points each, that'll earn you enough points to get... a $5 gift card. That works out to under $2/hour, much less than what you would normally make elsewhere. If you save up your points you can get such wonderful things as a golf ball holder (1350 points), a subscription to Forbes magazine (3000), or a 22-quart roaster oven (10000 points). To be fair there are a few good ones, like the restaurant gift certificates or the 1GB MP3 player (only 10000 points!), but it would be nice to have something worth the time. To their credit, surveys are usually pretty short. Most are estimated to take 15 minutes but shouldn't be hard to knock out in about 5. They are also prompt and courteous in helping you out if you have any questions. You'll notice above the emphasis placed on the word "regular" regarding a referral program. The thing is that most of the time they don't have one, but if numbers start dwindling they get one going long enough to meet their requirements. The last time this happened they offered 10 points per referral sent plus 100 points per sign up. Compared to what you get for taking surveys, this is damn near epic. Notes: Harris has pages in English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese, so international members should feel right at home. |
