Pace Yourself

It's easy to get in over your head when you are just starting out. To keep yourself from burning out before you even have anything to show for your effort, join about 10-15 sites at first (check out the Top 10 for a good starting point), give those a week, and then join 5 more if you can still fit them in your schedule. Continue until you reach a comfortable balance between time spent doing surveys and everything else.

Summary

Surveys aren't frequent enough to get much off of this site (you might get a $5 gift card after two months of surveys), but it does have a few things going for it. First is the fact that diligence is rewarded by offering higher value cards at lower point costs. While a $5 card will cost you 3500 points, a $10 card will only cost you 6750, a $15 card will cost you 9750, etc. Once you reach the highest value of $30 (17250 points) you are getting 6 times the value at less than 5 times the cost.

It also bears noting that they sometimes send out CD surveys where they will mail you a CD to use with an upcoming survey. I have yet to recieve one of these, but I would imagine that they would pay better than email surveys. As far as I know ePoll is the only site that does this.

Perhaps the best quality of ePoll is that even if you get disqualified from a survey you still get the full point value for that survey. A 500 point survey that disqualifies you after the first question still nets you 500 points. I'm not telling you to intentionally disqualify yourself from surveys, but it's a much better "thanks for playing" prize than a sweepstakes entry in my opinion.

Notes: When new TV shows start up in the fall and summer, you get a lot of surveys asking if you watched the show or not. I usually don't, so I end up getting a few thousand points just for saying "no" a few times.
